The Secretariat
The BUP secretariat, located at Uppsala University, Sweden, coordinates the ongoing projects and networking
of course groups, keep the network up-to-date on acticities, develops course materials, and maintains
statistics. The secretariat also administers the Programme economy, including contacts with the funding
organiszations.
The University Network
The total number of universities participating in the Programme during 2004
was 183. Several kinds of universities are active within the Programme:
classical, technical, agricultural and pedagogical are among the larger
categories. The majority of the universities took part by offering BUP courses,
others by the active participation of several researchers, while a few did not
offer courses in 2004, but still requested to stay in the network.
The National Centres
The 13 national BUP centres distribute information on courses and develop. Programme acticities within
their countries. They also provide expertise on issues dealing with university cooperation in the
Baltic Sea region, and on environmental and sustainable development issues. Below is a list of all the national
centres and the centre directors.
