Neisse-University
– A Joint European Trinational Education ApproachMASTER COURSE
"ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RISK MANAGEMENT"
KEY FACTS
The Neisse University represents a university network consisting of the
- Wroclaw University of Technology (Politechnika Wroclawska)
- Technical University of Liberec (Technicka Univerzita V Liberci) and
- University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz
which includes joint curricula for specific bachelor and master level courses. Following the principle of equality, the study courses are performed in the three participating countries and exciting cities (Wroclaw, Liberec, Zittau) in the heart of the enlarged Europe. The unique concept of the Neisse University refers to the Declaration of Bologna (1999) and the process of development of a joint European sector of higher education (EU Bologna Process).
Based on a more than six years experience with German and European industry (car manufactures and suppliers, energy suppliers, chemical products, etc.) there is an obvious need to reduce environmental, health & safety related risks resulting either from legal requirements or risks along the production chain to maintain or increase competitiveness. Working groups from each of the three participating universities have, therefore, jointly developed a new master course on "Environmental Health & Safety Risk Management (EH&S Risk Management)" to start in October 2006. The MSc course aims in capacity building and extended vocational training for young professionals in the field of quality-, environmental- and occupational health and safety management and, thereby, reducing corporate risks.
The interdisciplinary curriculum combines natural sciences, engineering and business administration as well as European and national legal requirements where English will be the teaching language in all courses. This approach displays our conviction that sustainable business development needs problem solvers based on not just one academic discipline but well educated and motivated interdisciplinary experts. Basically the new study course offers five educational categories (see figure below). The October 2006 matriculation ceremony will be held at the TU Wroclaw.
